Falling Tiles © is an Adobe After Effects template that creates an animated Message Board, featuring up to 377 Start tiles that fall-away to reveal 377 different End tiles; begin with one message or image, and end with a different message or image.

Adjust any aspect of the project, including fonts, colors, animation speeds and timings (gravity), plus much more. Using a modular structure, any amount of Message Board segments can be used in the final edit.

No Plug-ins required.
Display a “Start” alphanumeric message or still-image on a 4K “Message Board” composed of a grid of “tiles” that fall to reveal a different “End” message or image.
Message Board text characters can include uppercase letters, numbers, or symbols.
Use different visual elements for the “Start” and “End” tile characters, such as font, size, colors, tile base, etc.
Combine columns of text tiles with columns of images tiles in the same Message Board segment.
Adjust any aspect of the project, such as tile size, tile amount, fall speed, character font, enable or disable character fill and / or stroke, character size, color, etc.
Change the font of all characters in the Message Board by adjusting two simple controls; one control for the “Start” characters and one control for the “End” characters.
Simple and intuitive setting compositions are provided to enter Start and End text into the tiles.
Quickly reverse the Start / End message with one click to speed-up workflow when creating the next segment.
The speed (and speed curve) of the falling animation is easily modified if needed.
Eight different fall animation versions are included, each using different gravity physics, or create a custom version.
Each of the 29 columns of tiles fall using different (adjustable) timings for the start of the animation; random numbers provide unique timings for each column.
Each tile in each column falls using different (adjustable) timings for the start of the animation; random numbers provide unique timings for each of the 377 tiles.
Fine-tune the random fall animation start timings for each specific column if needed.
Use an adjustable textured background for character tiles, a solid color, or a custom image.
Implementing a modular structure, any number of Message Board segments can be used – each transitioning from one to the other. Easily create seamless loops for use in GIFs.
Create and render each individual Message Board segment separately, then combine the rendered videos into a final edit.
4K resolution.
Includes popular social media size aspect ratios (1:1, 4:5, 9:16)
Use any frame rate, default 30 FPS.
Animate any of the dozens of controls (such as tile size) at the end of the regular animation to create transitions (with tile characters ONLY; images not supported).
Falling Tiles works with Adobe After Effects CC 2020 (v17) and newer.
